Leaving a Legacy - The Mercy Health Foundation Greater Toledo

The Mercy Health Foundation provided $1.7 million in 2017 for a neighborhood stabilization program that includes home purchase assistance grants of up to $5,000 to buy homes in the area surrounding Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center. The initiative is designed to improve quality of life and promote better health and well-being among St. Vincent’s neighbors.

Mercy Health Clinical Research Lab Coordinator, Kristina, was the first to receive funding. Having worked for Mercy Health for 26 years, the area close to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center already felt like home. As a first-time homeowner, Kristina was so excited to move in, she slept in the house the first night after closing.

“It’s so much better knowing I have something solid that I can pass on to her,” she said, gesturing to her daughter, four-year-old Marinn. “Buying a home was really most about providing security for this one right here.”

Driven by generous donations, our foundation helps support educational and community health programs, fund grants and scholarships, and helps extend access to medical care throughout the region. Everything we do is driven by our mission — to extend the healing ministry of Jesus by improving the health of our communities, with a special emphasis on the poor and under-served. Together we can partner to make a difference in Greater Toledo area and help make lives better — in mind, body, and spirit.
