- Take the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to prevent mouth and throat cancers
- Reduce alcohol use
- Reduce tobacco use including exposure to secondhand smoke
Symptoms of Head and Neck Cancers

- A painless lump or swelling in the neck
- A sore in the mouth that does not heal or that bleeds easily
- A red or white patch in the mouth that doesn’t go away

- Hoarseness or a change in voice that lasts for two or more weeks
- Nasal problems like frequent nosebleeds, ongoing nasal congestion or chronic sinus infections
