Overview
Mercy Health offers expert cardiac rehabilitation programs available to patients across Ohio and Kentucky. Cardiac rehabilitation is an exercise and education program that improves exercise tolerance and cardiac symptoms. It also reduces the risks of cardiovascular disease and mortality while providing a safe environment. When necessary, behavior modification information and counseling can be provided for reducing your stress and quitting smoking. Monthly dietary classes are available as well, and are led by registered dietitians.
Our cardiac rehabilitation teams include doctors, registered nurses (who perform a complete assessment prior to exercise) and exercise physiologists (who start clients exercising and develop personalized exercise prescriptions). All staff members are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and work together to determine blood pressure, interpret EKG monitoring and to further advance each patient.
Continuous EKG monitoring is available based on your diagnosis and insurance coverage. The unit is equipped with a defibrillator and a crash cart to facilitate immediate response to any emergency situation.
Cardiac rehabilitation is recommended for a variety of reasons:
- Heart attack
