Overview

Most babies are born healthy and full of wonder. However, sometimes the need arises for more advanced care. For babies born prematurely or those having special health needs, we have a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or special care nursery available.

The NICU is an intensive care nursery for babies who are born premature, have problems during the birth process, or show health concerns within the first few days. We have a team of experts who specialize in premature infant care and babies who are critically ill.

Our team of caregivers includes:

  • Neonatologists and pediatricians
  • Neonatal nurse practitioners
  • Registered nurses
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Social workers
  • Pharmacists
  • Chaplains

Parents and family members are also an important part of the care team, and they are welcomed and encouraged to visit and support their baby during the care and healing time in the special care nursery.

Our neonatal team treats a wide range of serious conditions every day.

Why Choose Mercy Health?

At Mercy Health, our neonatal care teams are trained to provide quality care with compassion, but there are times a baby needs more specialized or advanced care. Should the need arise, we will arrange for transfer to the appropriate location to ensure that your baby receives the absolute best medical care possible.
