Overview

After surgery, illness or due to a serious health condition, you may require inpatient rehabilitation therapies to help you regain your strength and abilities. Inpatient rehabilitation combines compassionate, round-the-clock nursing care in the hospital with specialized therapies. They are designed to help you heal, grow stronger and improve your abilities, so you can confidently return home.

Working with you and your family, your care team will create an individualized plan of care to help you reach your health goals. Therapies include:

  • Physical therapy - helps build strength, flexibility, mobility and endurance.
  • Occupational therapy -  focuses on the activities of daily life.
  • Speech/language therapy - helps patients improve their abilities to communicate and/or swallow.
Your care team may include physical medicine doctors, rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, recreational therapists, registered dieticians, chaplains, social workers and case managers.
