Know Your Genetic Risk for Developing Cancer

Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, compassionate, quality care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that The Jewish Hospital is presenting a free informative seminar for women titled “I Know My Genetic Risk for Cancer.” The event takes place from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, May 6 at the Mayerson JCC, located at 8485 Ridge Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236.

A panel of experts will detail how family history and genetics affect an individual’s risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

Attendees can also get their annual screening mammogram at this casual, informative event.

Program agenda:  

• 10–10:30 a.m. - Check-in, hors d'oeuvres
• 10:30–11:30 a.m. - Keynote speaker Lori White, PhD. Lori learned she was at risk for carrying a BRCA gene mutation over 20 years ago and has since become a passionate advocate for patients living with hereditary cancer syndromes. As a molecular geneticist and mother of a child with disabilities, Lori has a unique perspective on genetic testing and on the complexities of making personal medical decisions.
