Donation to Mercy Neighborhood Ministries

Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that its employees donated $55,000 to support Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, a unique not-for-profit, social service organization located in Cincinnati.

Mercy Health Foundation ran Mercy Strong, Mercy Health’s annual employee giving campaign. The campaign invited employees to donate funds to a variety of local organizations, including Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, which celebrates its 10^th anniversary this year.

“Mercy Neighborhood Ministries is a companion ministry to Mercy Health. It’s the only Greater Cincinnati social service agency sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, the foundresses of Mercy Health, making it a natural, local organization for our employees to support,” said Jon Labbe, president Mercy Health – Cincinnati Foundation. “In the spirit of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, its staff is committed daily to changing lives with the ‘Touch of Mercy.’ We’re proud to support this organization.”

The ministry, located in East Walnut Hills concentrates is efforts on the following three key initiatives primarily for residents of Walnut Hills and the surrounding area:

• educating for life
• training for employment
• helping seniors age in place

Its mission is to promote the empowerment of individuals with a special focus on disadvantaged women and seniors through proven programs that educate, foster self-sufficiency and support enhanced quality of life. Its core values are very similar to Mercy Health’s and include:

As part of its 10^th anniversary celebrations, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries will host a series of fundraising events throughout the year to help expand the work of the ministry. The first event is a March Madness-themed event called Hoops & Hops, which takes place from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Purcell Marion High School, located at 2935 Hackberry St, Cincinnati, OH 45206. Guests will enjoy food, beer and the NCAA college tournament on big screen TVs. Tickets are $10 at the door and $25 a share to join a team with the chance to win $10,000 during a half-court shot contest.
