Mercy Health Names Elizabeth Venard, MD Medical Director of Pelvic Floor Services and Robotic Surgery at West Hospital Women’s Center

Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, compassionate, quality care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that it has named Elizabeth Venard, MD Medical Director of pelvic floor services and robotic surgery at the hospital’s Women’s Center.

 

Dr. Venard, an OB/GYN, leads West Hospital’s pelvic floor services team, which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. “Pelvic floor” describes the muscles, ligaments, connective tissues and nerves that support the organs in the pelvis, including the bladder and rectum and additionally in women, the uterus and vagina.

 

Dr. Venard performs the MonaLisa Touch procedure, a laser procedure that can reverse effects of vaginal atrophy. Defined as is the thinning, drying and inflammation of the vaginal walls due to lessening estrogen levels, vaginal atrophy occurs most often after menopause, breast cancer treatment or other medical treatments. For many women, vaginal atrophy not only makes intercourse painful but also leads to distressing urinary symptoms. The laser stimulates collagen stores, reviving dried skin and improving the condition of the vaginal wall without the need for anesthesia. West Hospital is the only Mercy Health hospital in Cincinnati to offer MonaLisa Touch therapy.

 

Dr. Venard also performs the following robotic-assisted gynecological procedures: hysterectomy, salpingectomy-oophrectomy, ovarian cystectomy, myomectomy and sacrocolpopexy.
