Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital Launches Monthly Aphasia Support Group

Mercy Health - Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that Anderson Hospital is launching an aphasia support group.

The group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 3-4 p.m. in classroom two at the Mercy Health – Anderson HealthPlex, located at 7495 State Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255. Classroom two is located directly to the left of the HealthPlex entrance. The first meeting takes place on Tuesday, June 6.

Aphasia is a language impairment issue caused by brain injury, most commonly by stroke but also by head trauma, brain tumors or infections. It affects a person’s ability to produce or comprehend speech and to read or write.

The support group, which is free and open to patients and their families, aims to provide people with aphasia with a supportive social network and a welcoming space in which to practice and improve their communication skills and build confidence.
