Mercy Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Hosts Symposium for Female Student Athletes in Anderson Township on Saturday, May 20

Following a successful runner’s symposium it held earlier this year, Mercy Health – Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Anderson is hosting the 2017 Female Athlete Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 20 at its office at 7575 Five Mile Road, Suite B, Cincinnati, OH  45230.

 

Designed especially for female student athletes ages 12-23 and their parents, attendees will hear from experts who will provide useful information on nutrition, mental strategies to help overcome obstacles and common sports injuries faced by the female athlete.

 

The symposium includes three interactive breakout sessions that will have an immediate impact on athletes’ daily routines, including a nationally proven ACL injury prevention program for females and core and strength training. There’s also a keynote speaker who is sure to inspire!

How to fuel your body for maximum performance, Lindsay Camm, Anatomy & Physiology and Nutritional Biochemistry Teacher at Turpin High School

Common sports injuries in the female athlete, Amelia Wiggins, DO, Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

Keynote Speaker - Dr. Rachele Vogelpohl, Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Athletic Training Program at Northern Kentucky University. Dr. Vogelpohl was a member of the 2005 Northern Kentucky University Women’s Softball team, which set the NCAA all-division softball record with 55 consecutive wins. Today, she continues to participate in recreational athletic activities and focuses professionally on preparing students for a career in the healthcare field of athletic training.
