Mercy Health Cincinnati Hospitals Earn Top Star Ratings

Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that its five area hospitals have earned top star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

CMS published its new star ratings index on the Hospital Compare website. Anderson Hospital, The Jewish Hospital and West Hospital all improved their ratings, going from four to five stars, the highest rating a hospital can achieve. Clermont Hospital and Fairfield Hospital maintained their strong four-star ratings.

The overall rating summarizes up to 57 quality measures that reflect common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia and also takes into account patient experience, the safety, effectiveness and timeliness of care and readmission and mortality rates. The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S.

The overall rating ranges from one to five stars. The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. The most common overall rating is three stars. More information is available at https://www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare/About/Hospital-overall-ratings.html.
