Over 20 members of Mercy Health’s Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation team have earned designation as a Certified Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Mercy Health has the largest number of APTA-certified specialists caring for patients in Greater Cincinnati.

“To receive this certification, each physical therapist has had a specialized focus in this field for five or more years and is able to address the unique physical therapy needs of men, women and children with a range of conditions,” said Mike McCormack, PT, MHS, SCS, ATC, Regional Director of Rehabilitation Services.

“Certified physical therapists are then required to demonstrate competency on the national examination and demonstrate continued competency every three years. Therapists achieving the certification have demonstrated the highest commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills to help their patients recover from injury and return to activities.”

Mercy Health’s team achieved certifications in neurology, orthopedics and sports physical therapy.

Additionally, two Mercy Health physical therapists earned designation as Certified Hand Therapists. To receive this credential, the therapists have held certification for at least three years and have a minimum of 4,000 hours of direct practice in hand therapy.
