After a comprehensive search, Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital announces that Nicole Barnett, DNP, MSN, BSN, RN, CIC will serve as the hospital’s new chief nursing officer. Barnett assumed the role on December 6, 2020.
“During her time as the interim chief nursing officer, Nicole’s engaging, high energy and progressive leadership laid the foundation for advancing nursing services at Anderson Hospital,” said Anderson Hospital President Ken James.
Barnett has been with Mercy Health for 10 years, serving previous as the quality director for Anderson Hospital, Clermont Hospital and The Jewish Hospital. Additionally, she held the roles of regional infection prevention manager and infection preventionist.
She has first-hand patient experience in working various acute care positions, including intensive care unit nurse, patient care assistant, unit secretary and admitting/registration associate. During her tenure, Barnett has been a finalist for the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Health Care Heroes Manager Award and was nominated for the Health Collaborative’s Richard M. Smith, MD Leadership in Quality Improvement Award.
Barnett received her doctorate degree in Nursing Practice – Executive Leadership in 2019 from American Sentinel University in Aurora, Colorado and received her master’s degree in 2015 with a focus on Infection Prevention, also from American Sentinel. Additionally, in 2015, she obtained her Certification in Infection Control (CIC). Nicole received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati.
