The Mercy Health Foundation Lourdes has received $52,000 in grant funding from the Delta Regional Authority to support the new Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
Delta Regional Authority grants are approved through the governor’s office and of the $1.3 million invested into Kentucky communities in the latest round of funding Mercy Health’s Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is the only project funded in the Paducah region. Funding for projects is provided by the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program, Delta Regional Authority’s flagship grant program that makes strategic investments into projects supporting basic public infrastructure, transportation improvements, workforce training and education, and business development with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. Delta Regional Authority coordinates directly with the Kentucky’s Department for Local Government and three local development districts in the state for program funding implementation.
Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital will use its funding to renovate space at the facility into an epilepsy monitoring unit. The new unit will double the size of the previous unit and provide staff and patients with a centralized location for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals suffering from epileptic seizures. The new unit will open later this fall.
