Mercy Health  Hospice, Paducah will host the 15th annual Camp Robin Saturday, March 28. Camp Robin is a day camp that provides support and counseling to children who have suffered the loss of a family member or friend.

Camp Robin consists of therapeutic activities in a fun, safe environment to help children (ages 4-17) deal with grief. The camp is offered free to children and their parents or guardians living in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Attendees to the 15th annual camp will enjoy a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, story and letter writing, a free lunch and a memorial ceremony at the end of camp that will feature a balloon send-off. Sessions available to parents and guardians will include “How to Help Yourself” and “Helping Children Grieve.”

“Each year we work to improve the camp’s activities and techniques and we believe this year’s Camp Robin will be the best yet,” said Shannah D. Poindexter, Mercy Health – Hospice’s Community Relations Manager. “We offer age-specific group sessions to focus on the needs these children may be facing. Just being around others your age who have experienced loss helps our campers to realize that they are not alone. Everyone involved with the camp consider it a privilege that we’ve been able to provide this special event for our area’s children for 15 years.”

To register for the camp or to learn how to volunteer, call (270) 415-3636 or email MDew@mercy.com. Registration the day of the event begins at 8:45 a.m.
