Springfield Regional Medical Center is currently seeking volunteers in the following areas:

  • Main Lobby Greeter and Escort: This volunteer greets those who come into the main lobby, providing them with information and escorting them to their destination within the hospital walls. This position is the “Face of Mercy” to all those who come to us in need of services.
  • Volunteers in Patient Support (VIPs): VIPs answer phones, assist with document requests, complete errands and transport patients for various hospital departments. They also help with special projects, such as mailings and packet assembly.
  • Shuttle Service: This volunteers provide transportation for patients, visitors and family members from the green visitor lot to the front entrance of the hospital, via golf cart or shuttle bus.
  • Volunteer Office Assistant: This role involves assisting with general clerical duties, such as filing, computer entry or word processing, laminating, answering the phone, taking messages, copying, preparing mailings and small at-desk projects.
  • Volunteers in all roles receive orientation and training to help them get started and become comfortable in the hospital environment.

    Volunteer opportunities are available to adults and teens over the age of 16. We interview all applicants to assess interests and skills. We strive to create a sensitive and appropriate match between the volunteer and the area of need.
