Program Overview
Mercy Health’s Family and Community Medicine Residency at Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an ACGME-accredited, three-year family medicine residency program approved to accept eight residents each year. We are a community-based family medicine residency program, where our residents are respected as integral members of the medical staff.
Our program faculty have been selected based on their broad scope and diverse clinical, academic and leadership experience, all of which contribute to the excellence of what you can expect from our graduate medical education. With our combined knowledge, passion, attitude and resilience, we created this program with a focus on evidence-based medicine, value-based care, life-long learning, diversity, wellness and scholarly contribution.
We are dedicated to preparing our residents to become highly competitive and respected physicians within the community that they choose to serve. We strive in preparing our residents to become successful family medicine physicians who excel at practicing in a dynamic and rapid changing health care environment.
Our goal is to graduate exceptionally confident and capable physicians with outstanding clinical experience, medical knowledge, procedural skills, integrity and passion for our profession. We are committed to providing residents with the opportunities needed to achieve their goals.
Wellness is an integral component of our efforts to train capable and compassionate physician leaders. Our rotation opportunities and curriculum have been developed to provide needed experiences for learning and designed to allow work-life balance and leadership to approach the future with resilience and mindfulness.
We are eager for you to see our brand-new renovated office space on the campus of Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital. We have consolidated health care services for our patients and health care education for our professional learners.
Program Aims
Our program aims to include the following:
- Educate and train future family physicians utilizing an innovative curriculum that emphasizes continuity of care across settings, population health, health equity and advocacy for patients, while delivering value-based and evidence-based care for a diverse patient population.
- Foster collaborations within the community through innovative educational programs, team-based care, bridging of disciplines, specialties and practice environments; to support the learner’s interests and produce scholarly activities.
- Encourage residents to develop the habit of critical appraisal, to regularly review the quality of care they provide, to evaluate and assimilate evidence from published literature, and to practice evidence-based medicine; preparing our graduates to become leaders in family medicine and to approach their medical practice with academic rigor.
- Commitment to innovation and continual quality improvement through developing residents into successful self-directed learners.
- Promote efficiency across all areas of clinical practice
- Develop wellness strategies to promote healthy and safe lifestyle practices and mitigate burnout and fatigue
