Meet the Director and Team — Family Medicine Residency at Lorain Hospital
Welcome from the Program Director
Our three-year community-based residency, which is part of The Mercy Health System, is based in Lorain, Ohio, and aims to prepare family doctors who are compassionate, self-assured, and committed to helping their patients and communities.
Our goal in Mercy Health is to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that fosters the growth of competent, culturally aware medical professionals. We prioritize excellent, patient-focused care, a strong link to community health, and a dedication to lifelong learning.
Our training focuses on:
- Managing a wide range of medical conditions across both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Enhancing clinical judgment and providing treatment that prioritizes each patient's needs and values.
- Promoting whole-person care, with an emphasis on prevention, continuity, and care across the lifespan.
During their three years of residency, our doctors develop professionally and personally. While we provide a planned curriculum, much of the most valuable learning takes place at the bedside and during direct patient care. We emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world problem solving in a variety of therapeutic settings.
We also encourage active participation in community-based initiatives and service opportunities that inspire leadership, personal growth, and a lasting commitment to the communities we serve.
We look forward to welcoming you and supporting you on your path to a rewarding and impactful career in family medicine.
Warm regards,
Tamer Said, MD
