How do research projects get selected at your site?

Residents are encouraged to propose a possible research topic if one is of interest. If you don’t have a particular interest, the team will supply a list of pre-approved ideas for selection.

Can you tell me about your program?

The PGY 1 residency program at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital is designed to expose two highly motivated residents to numerous practice areas. Several direct patient care rotations are offered (i.e. internal medicine, intensive care, ambulatory care, emergency medicine, etc.) as well as opportunities to gain knowledge in alternative practice areas (i.e. administration, patient safety/quality, teaching, etc.). Elective rotations can be tailored to match the resident's interest.  Additional activities include presentations, completion of a research project, precepting of APPE and IPPE students and participation on numerous hospital committee.
