Meet the Director and Team — General Surgery Residency at The Jewish Hospital

Letter from the Program Director

Welcome to the General Surgical Residency Program at The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our surgical training program has been educating surgical residents since 1933. The program has continued to evolve over this period of time and continues to provide an ideal environment for the training of a surgical resident.

The program has been expanded with several recent faculty additions. Their varied clinical interests and commitment to education have strengthen our program and have broadened the educational scope we can provide for our residents.

The small size of our program has many benefits. Our residents develop close working and social relationships with one another. Our faculty mainly only operate out of The Jewish Hospital and as such have almost a daily interaction with the residents whether that is in the office, on rounds or in the operating room. The frequent interaction with the residents allows for stronger guidance, teaching and mentorship.

The General Surgical Residency Program at The Jewish Hospital is committed to providing a robust clinical, didactic, and operative experience for the resident in a collegial environment. Our expectation of the residents is that they strive to continue to learn and grow from these opportunities. We are committed to ensuring that every graduating chief resident is confident and competent to follow whatever surgical path they wish to pursue.
