Meet the Director and Team — Internal Medicine Residency at St. Rita's Medical Center
Welcome from the Program Director
At the Mercy Health Internal Medicine Residency Program, our guiding principle is to develop physician leaders who are not only proficient in medical practice but also prepared to evolve with the advancing field of medicine. Rooted in the core values of growth, empathy and excellence, our philosophy extends beyond resident development to encompass our faculty as well. We believe that these values should be reflected not only in our residents but also in our educators. Therefore, we emphasize continuous lifelong learning for our faculty through a dedicated curriculum focused on faculty development.
Situated in a unique rural yet complex medical setting, our program provides an expansive range of experiences across 10 counties, equipping residents with diverse clinical exposure. Our innovative approach is showcased in our state-of-the-art simulation center and the pioneering Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program. We take pride in our robust scholarly activity program, which fosters a culture of research and academic inquiry, leading to numerous publications and conference presentations.
Our partnership with Ohio State University enhances our community-centric ethos, allowing a fruitful exchange of knowledge and fostering the development of community-oriented physicians through their community medicine track. We believe in cultivating empathetic leaders who excel in collaborative, patient-centered care. Our comprehensive program not only addresses the ACGME core competencies but also emphasizes leadership, communication, personal well-being and professional development.
We are dedicated to creating an environment where residents and faculty alike can thrive, innovate and lead the future of health care with compassion and excellence.
