Benefits and Compensation

Salary

  • $59,700 (includes travel and meeting expenses)

Insurance

Eligibility for benefits starts on July 1.  Health care coverage is provided at a nominal cost. 

Paid Time Off

  • Vacation: 80 hours
  • Interviews: Up to three days
  • Holidays: Seven days
  • Professional conferences

Academic Stipend

Registration and travel expenses for the ASHP Midyear Meeting in December and the Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference in May have been included in the resident stipend and are the responsibility of the resident.  Funding to attend either the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s annual conference or American College of Clinical Pharmacists annual meeting will be determined on a yearly basis and a set amount will be provided by MHSVMC pharmacy department.

Lifestyle in the Area

Located on Lake Erie in northwest Ohio, Toledo has a population of more than 275,000 people. It is nicknamed “The Glass City” due to the historical significance of glass manufacturing in the area. There are many wonderful activities in the area including the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art and an extensive Metroparks system. Other options include attending festivals and events, supporting the local sports teams and dining out at one of the numerous restaurants in the area.

What to Expect

During the course of this 12-month program, the PGY2 Critical Care resident will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. Pharmacist preceptors will model behaviors and provide support as the resident becomes more independent in each practice area. The resident will need to employ time management skills to balance patient care responsibilities with longitudinal projects.  Residents will serve as the pharmacy representative on critical care committees alongside preceptors and will work directly with attending physicians as well as residents of various services.

Call Schedule 

Pharmacy residents are not required to work on call.
