Program Overview
The innovative Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital offers a diverse, fast-paced resident experience. This part of Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital is the newest addition to the not-for-profit organization. Built in 2007, the emergency department has 30 beds with 49,000 annual emergency department visits.
The Mercy Health Boardman Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program is a three-year program (PGY 1, 2, 3) designed to provide education and experience in the clinical, educational, administrative and research aspects of emergency medicine.
Rotations include nine months of emergency medicine based at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. Additional emergency medicine rotations are scheduled at our system's nearby hospitals, including Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center and Mercy Health – St. Joseph Warren Hospital, a Level III Trauma Center. Pediatric emergency medicine rotations are scheduled at Akron Children's Hospital, Mahoning Valley Campus and a pediatric intensive care rotation is scheduled at Akron Children's.
