Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital

St. Charles has been providing for the healthcare needs of Toledo’s eastern communities. A 390-bed Level III Trauma Center, St. Charles serves residents of Oregon, East Toledo and Lucas, Wood and Ottawa counties.

St. Charles provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient care and offers a homelike maternity center, a comprehensive cancer center, acute inpatient rehabilitation services and a women’s health center.

Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center

St. Vincent is home to five Life Flight air ambulances, holds the highest designation for treating high risk mothers & babies, Comprehensive Stroke Center and is a Level I Trauma Center for Adults and Level 2 for children. 

Located on the St. Vincent campus are; Orthopedics, Mercy Health – Regional Heart and Vascular Institute, Mercy Health Neuroscience Institute, and the area’s only Mobile Stroke Unit. St. Vincent provides a modern, attractive and secure campus and takes a leadership role in providing quality medical education and community development.

Mercy Health Children's Hospital

Based on models of state-of-the-art facilities around the country, Mercy Health Children’s Hospital has the full range of sophisticated facilities demanded by advanced pediatric care including:

  • A 16-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with long-term seizure monitoring
  • A 30-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a perinatal center. Level III is the highest designation awarded by the Ohio Department of Health to hospitals that provide care for high-risk newborns.
  • A 26-bed general pediatric unit

Mercy Health St. Anne Hospital

St. Anne Hospital provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services in a single location. St. Anne was designed and built with the patients, families and visitors in mind to offer quality care, comfort and convenience.

With an exceptional facility and an experienced team of healthcare professionals, St. Anne takes a leadership role in delivering healthcare to the residents of west Toledo and southeast Michigan.

Didactic Curriculum

  • Weekly Didactics conference is held on Wednesday mornings. This is protected educational time for our residents, and all Family Medicine and off-service attending physicians realize that residents will be at these didactics each week. All available clinical faculty members attend these conferences with our residents, including physicians and psychologists, to provide a truly multidisciplinary team learning concept.
  • Monthly Inpatient M&M cases are presented by the Family Medicine team from the previous month.
  • Monthly Journal Club is also held on a monthly basis. Each month, a resident is assigned to select a journal article in collaboration with a mentoring clinical faculty member and is responsible for presenting the article and leading a critical discussion and evaluation.

Scholarly Activity

Balint Group meetings are held monthly over lunch with separate sessions for junior and senior residents. Led by our staff psychologist, Balint Group provides a confidential opportunity for residents to share experiences and gain insight from their peers.
